Here is a possible reputation profile for buyers that sellers would have:

  • Overall reputation score
  • Number of transactions
  • Ratio of payment amounts to sellers’ suggested prices
  • Ratio of payment amounts to payment amounts from buyers of the same product and/or similar products
  • Average payment by item type
  • Record of transaction history, including item description and price paid
  • Comments from past transaction partners
  • Comments about past transaction partners

Similarly, buyers would have access to a reputation profile for sellers and/or products. Here is a possible version:

  • Overall reputation score
  • Number of transactions
  • Ratio of received payment amounts to suggested prices (overall and by item type)
  • Sales history of past product offerings
  • Comments from past transaction partners
  • Comments about past transaction partners

Using this information, buyers and sellers will be able to narrow the field of possible PostPricing transacting partners -- they will identify those with encouraging past behavior. This filtering can be based on specified cut-off values for reputation profile statistics. For example, sellers can specify that they will accept PostPricing transactions only from buyers who have historically paid at least a certain minimum average of the seller’s suggested price. Conversely, buyers can filter out sellers that on average receive a low percentage of their suggested prices. In order for a transaction to happen, the buyer must pass through the seller's filters and the seller must pass through buyer's filters. In this manner, individuals with the best reputations will have the most (and best) transacting opportunities.

Although these are optional features that are not required for PostPricing to work, they will make transactions in some systems substantially more effective.
